Rockport — Motif #1
This painting of Rockport, Maine is one of several I happened to discover in a very old sketchbook. This particular building seemed to be worthy subject matter for an artist. (Another of Byron’s paintings of the same building, from a few years earlier, is posted below.)
As I prepared this art show, Scott (whose work is exhibited in the south room) saw this work and explained the significance of “Motif No. 1,” claimed to be “the most painted building in the world”!! Looks like it hasn’t changed much since the 1950s!
